Event Notes
Come sit with us under a great big Alberta sky and experience Verdi's NABUCCO - a story of an ancient king, an exiled people, and a fight for freedom brought to you by Opera Classica Europa and the Badlands Amphitheatre.
And a bit less brief:
Set in Ancient Babylon, this opera tells the story of King Nabucco who enslaves the people of Israel and declares himself to be God, driving him into madness. Nabucco is betrayed by his daughter Abigaille who cruelly plots the destruction of her half-sister Fenena, in love with the Israelite Ismaele, by condemning an entire nation to death.
Composer Giuseppe Verdi stated that NABUCCO, his most successful opera, "was born under a lucky star."- a perfect choice for an outdoor opera performed at the spectacular Badlands Amphitheatre.
And other bits if needed:
There is nothing like an event at the Badlands Amphitheatre. Sitting under a great big Alberta sky surrounded by the ancient hills of Canada's largest outdoor stage is an unforgettable experience.
